Tanana is a publicly commissioned piece for the Fairbanks, Alaska airport. It is made of cast Pyrex glass and stainless steel representing a contour map of a portion of the Yukon River about 125 miles from Fairbanks. The little town of Tanana sits right in the upper middle of the mural. The glass is the frozen river carving its way through the alluvial plane of its upper reaches. In the metal you can see the mountains above the town and the swamp and river tributaries below.
