white sculptures

The Look of ice comes from the fusing of borosilicate glasses like Pyrex. After I was introduced to the material I tried to erase the white veils but ultimately saw that they offered a new style of fused glass that resembles ice. Rather than the liquid flow I had been used to, the ice gave me a different way of conceptualizing my sculpture and fired my interest in ice as a metaphor for making glass. This in turn led me to the National Science Foundation Antarctica Artists and Writers Program and a residency at Palmer Station, Antarctica. Please see my Antarctica Blog and work related to the ice textures of Antarctica, as well as other cast Pyrex work such as my Takaroa Fountain, the Levuka Fountain at City Place, Santa Ana, California, and the San Jose, California, Willow Glen Branch Library windows.
